Khas Musicians

The music of the Lao people’s khene is played on a mouth organ that resembles a Pan flute made of bamboo tubes of varying lengths, each containing a metal reed. The player blows into the instrument through an air pouch, and the sound produced depends on the size of the pipe.

Khene music is popular; it is customary at village festivals, and khene music is an integral part of Lao life.
