Photo cards
Photo cards by definition are photos used to serve as postcards.
The notion of photo card should be used for cards before 1930.
Black and white postcards from the 1950s should not bear this name.
The collection of Indochine photo cards is very interesting. They show very typical places, facts and situations and sometimes these maps are projects, proposals, postcard essays.
But the collection of photo cards has a major disadvantage: its price.
While a beautiful card will cost a maximum of 35 to 50 euros, a photo card representing the same subject, the same pose will be offered for sale from 70 to 250 euros.
Also be careful not to confuse certain postcards from the period 1908-1912 which are publishers’ postcards, made of photos, printed without margins, but which are not photo cards. In this category we think of the series of photographic maps by Auguste Thiriat, wrongly attributed to the Morin frères establishments in Hué, value between 8 and 18 euros depending on the view and condition of the map.
