Les japonais étaient présents en petit nombre en Indochine en 1900, les cartes postales représentant ceux-ci nous montrent très souvent des femmes prostituées.

L’histoire dit que celles-ci se prostituaient pour gagner de l’argent, économisaient pour avoir un pécule et rentraient au pays pour se marier.
